October in the Low Desert October is one of the best planting months in the low desert. Learn how to transition out of summer, prepare your soil, and plan a productive cool-season garden. We’ll cover what to plant in October, including vegetables, herbs, flowers, garlic, strawberries, roses, bulbs, and wildflowers. We’ll also discuss watering adjustments, planting landscape plants, and which pests to watch for.
